Introducing Pixelion Captions: Live Captions and Translation for OBS Studio

Pixelion Captions is a native OBS Studio plugin that adds live captions and translation to your stream, with transcripts you can save, export, and sync. Free for Windows.

Pixelion Captions is a native OBS Studio plugin that adds live captions and translation to your stream. It listens to your OBS program audio and shows the words as captions in a source you can place and style anywhere in your scene. It is available now as a free download for Windows.

Where the Pixelion web app turns a finished recording into publish-ready content, Pixelion Captions works live, while you stream or record. Start a session from the dock and the captions appear in real time, with a transcript you can keep when you are done.

A native OBS dock

Pixelion Captions installs as a plugin, not a browser overlay or a separate app window. After installing, you open it from the Docks menu and it sits alongside your other OBS docks. From there you sign in to your Pixelion account, choose Transcribe or Translate, set your language, and start or stop a session.

The dock handles sign-in, session controls, caption styling, and transcript history, docked inside OBS.

The dock also shows your plan and how many transcription minutes you have left for the month, so you always know where you stand before you go live.

Captions in your scene

Captions are not a fixed overlay. Pixelion Captions adds a caption source you can position, resize, and style like any other OBS source. Drop it over your webcam, under your gameplay, or wherever it fits your layout, and adjust the font, color, size, background, alignment, and padding to match your look.

The caption source is a normal OBS source you can place and style anywhere in your scene.

Pixelion Captions reads the OBS program mix, the same audio your viewers hear, so there is no separate microphone setup. Route the audio you want captioned through your normal OBS scene and mixer, give consent to audio processing, and press Start. You can also have captions start and stop automatically with your stream or recording.

Transcribe or translate live

Before you start, you pick a mode:

  • Transcribe writes the speech as captions in the spoken language.
  • Translate converts the speech into another language in real time, which is useful for interviews, co-streams, and reaching an audience that does not share your language. Translate mode is part of the Pixelion Pro and Hero plans.

Pixelion Captions offers a focused set of languages in the dock for both modes.

Keep every transcript

A session is more than captions that scroll past. Pixelion Captions saves a transcript of each session on your computer, and the transcription history lets you browse past sessions with their date, duration, and sync status.

Every session is saved locally. From history you can open, rename, export, or sync a transcript.

From history you can export a transcript as TXT, SRT, or VTT, rename or delete a session, or sync it to your Pixelion Library to turn it into a blog post, social posts, chapters, or SEO metadata with the full content suite.

Local saving is on by default and you control where transcripts are stored. Syncing to your Pixelion Library is optional, and you can turn either one off.
